FYIs, part 2

Kashi  Heart to Heart Whole Grain Crackers are not nearly as good as Triscuits “With a Hint of Salt.”

triscuit

In fact, they taste fruity and rather unpleasant in comparison.

It’s entirely possible to feel closer to someone you’ve never met in person than people you see every day.

Things you don’t want to hear the neighbor kids say, “Either eat it or let’s bury it. Mom just can’t find out.”

Things you don’t want to hear your boss say, “Mandatory team building event.”

theofficeThis is code for “bull shit.”

You can be beat without being defeated.

There is too much “blogligation” out there. It’s a blog, and in most cases, it’s not your life. Make no apologies.

I still fully intend on including “spatulate” into my vocabulary.

When going for a walk, do not get stuck behind a garbage truck on garbage day—a garbage day that’s 85 degrees, in particular.

Sometimes you have to do something even if you don’t want to. It doesn’t matter why you do it, only that you do.

You don’t always have to be deep, but avoid being shallow.

Trust me, there are ugly babies.

However, there are no ugly baby animals.

Jealousy and regret are useless emotions. This doesn’t mean I don’t still feel them, but just that I acknowledge that they’re useless.

Once in awhile, a change of blog scenery can be kind of fun (even if you scare people off.)

There are often more personalities than there is logic.

For 99 people that don’t understand, there is always that one left that does. Look for that one. If you can’t find them, be that one yourself.

Trust me.

This is worth your five minutes to watch.

Just like last time, do you have any FYIs to share?

  1. Okay:
A – LOVE the video. Have to say I probably would never have the balls to go to club by myself – but I do love it.
    B – I agree with your FYIs

    My FYIs:
People that force you to have a meeting for 5 hours, regardless of need to meet – are lonely and control freaks.
Men that don’t wear wedding rings that are married freak me out.
The word mucus is gross to me.
I think the kid places with those play ‘balls’ are disgusting pitri dishes.
Too many people today live on excuses. Excuses for why they ‘can’t’. Grow up. Deal.
    xoxoxo

  2. My FYI’s:

I am constantly people watching. I am always wondering what their stories are. Yesterday I saw an older man with a younger woman and a two year old. Hmmm, daughter & father? Husband and wife? Haha, I am curious ;)

  3. For 99 people that don’t understand, there is always that one left that does.
FYI: You are that person for me :)

And, yes, I agree it’s entirely possible to feel closer to someone you’ve never met in person than people you see every day.

    I love the little video.

  4. Such a cool video! I wish more people were so free and able to be themselves like that, rather than what they think they should be. I’m guilty of it myself though….

    An FYI? Hmmm.
People who seem like they are never alone, might be a lot lonelier than you think.

  5. Lovely FYI’s esp the video, although I do most of those things mentioned….but its good to see it reinforced. And yes, how wonderful was that chnge of scenery!

    ok my fyi’s….brace yourself:

-If a girl lights candles, something romantic is going to happen. If a guy lights candles, he farted

-I think spooning was invented by girls whose boyfriends had bad breath.

-Asking someone to go on a hike is like saying “I want to hang out but I also sorta want you to sprain your ankle.”

-How many fights have been avoided b/c of air conditiong? “You always…ooh it’s nice in here.”

-The term “Family reunion” kind of implies you normally don’t have to keep in touch with these people, right?

    – I like to think of guacamole as the Mexican peanut butter

  6. Amanda @ HopeHasAPlace

“It’s entirely possible to feel closer to people you’ve never met…” I 100% agree.

As for “spatulate,” I am most disappointed that it didn’t make it as a recognized word… “scraping batter from the bowl” definitely deserves its own word. I fully support this one.

  7. I am too tired to give a witty FYI. But just have to say that some of yours are real good.

  8. Love the video. I don’t have any FYIs to share, but I will comment on two of yours:

    1. Did your neighbors really say that? And if so, did you find out what it was? Yikes…
    2. I completely agree that there are ugly babies. In fact, I think most babies are ugly. Their heads are big and they are kinda weird looking to me. I have a hard time not showing it when someone shows me a picture of their baby. I am usually like “ummmm, that is nice that you had a baby.” However, I do have a propensity towards African American babies. Too bad my husband is white.

  9. triscuits are the real deal!! no fakes allowed! heh

    have a pleasant evening
    love, becca

  10. i agree about the H2H crackers. yep.

  11. I hope you have more FYIs in the future. Loved the list you came up with.

My FYI: Sometimes, chain restaurants can surprise you with how good their food is.

  12. i just watched the video. so true and so hilarious at the same time. i want to dance by myself in my room. she looked like she was having fun. i am about to go to a movie by myself in about an hour, so that counts, right?

anyways, i am glad to hear that spatulate is a word. that makes me happy.

    love ya lady!!!

  13. Triscuits are good for you. I approve! :) I love your blog. I also loved this line:

“Jealousy and regret are useless emotions. This doesn’t mean I don’t still feel them, but just that I acknowledge that they’re useless.”

Food for thought…and so true. My mantra is “no regrets” and I try to live by that on a daily basis. Thank goodness, I only have 1. And yes, I agree that it’s a useless emotion. It can’t be changed. So why bother thinking about it? I think it’s just human nature.

  14. fyi-

don’t eat mexican food before you hot yoga class causing the girl (yours truly) next to you suffer through your nacho cheese smelling sweat.

  15. Really nice FYI’s. I had to comment being a first time reader/commenter, but a lot of this hits home and I couldn’t help myself from stating this.

You’re right, blogging is a hobby, there’s no need to apologize for it.

The thing that hit me the most was the “It’s entirely possible to feel closer to someone you’ve never met in person than people you see every day. ” I met my best friend online and before he came to see me, I would rather spend nights playing online games and talking to him than going out with some of my friends that I saw on a regular basis.

  16. Love that video. I am very independent and like to be alone a lot, and I hate it when my family doesn’t understand that I like spending Friday night at home by myself sometimes. Being with people just to “belong” doesn’t feel right at all.

    FYI:
Going to the bathroom on an airplane really isn’t all that bad. It’s twenty times better than a port-a-potty.
It’s okay to need space sometimes. You shouldn’t have to apologize for it.

  17. I love the FYIs. The one about the baby really reminded me of the Seinfeld episode when they go to the Hamptoms to visit friends with a new baby and the doctor there says the baby is “breathtaking.” Elaine, et. al. have a hard time even looking at the little sucker.

FYI: I’ve spent way too much time watching re-runs on TV.

  18. “Either eat it or let’s bury it. Mom just can’t find out.”– This is the most amazing thing I think I’ve ever heard in my life.
